ArmorList is the independent record layer for the body-armor market: it reports what the records show and never ranks or endorses. This walkthrough takes an agency buyer from a new account to a first quote request, and shows where each record comes from along the way.
1. Create your agency account
Agency accounts are free. Sign up as an agency, with your work email.
If your email is a government address (.gov, .mil, or a state, local or tribal government .us address), your agency is approved as soon as you confirm your email. With any other address, your account is created but stays closed until our team verifies your agency, usually within one business day. We may email you for proof, such as your agency's name and a contact there. Nothing is deleted while you wait.
Once approved, your agency has access to ArmorList and ArmorTrack.
2. Search by the record
Product search filters by the facts a listing carries: protection level, armor type, size, cut, shape, material, the standard a product is tested to, country of origin, Berry compliance and more. The NIJ group filters by standard (0101.06 or 0101.07) and by whether a model is on the NIJ Compliant Products List (CPL).
Filters in the same group widen the search: choosing two protection levels shows products at either. Filters in different groups narrow it. Each option shows how many results you would get by choosing it, and options with no results are hidden.
3. Read each product against its record
A signed-in product page shows the model's NIJ CPL status as NIJ publishes it (Active, Suspended or Inactive), the standard, and the date the list was read. That date matters: status can change, and the page tells you when it was last checked.
"Tested to standard" on a listing is the standard the listing states. For NIJ body armor, check it against the CPL status on the same page. For other standards, such as ASTM for shields or VPAM, ask the manufacturer for the test report or the certifying body's record for that exact model.
4. Save the search
Save a search to come back to it. A saved search stores your query and filters, and re-runs live against the current catalog each time you open it.
5. Compare models side by side
Add up to four products to compare. The comparison lines up the same fields for each model, so differences in level, standard, cut and status are easy to see.
6. Request a quote
From a company's page, use Request a quote. Each request covers one item, so send one per product you want priced. Replies arrive in Quotes and Orders, where the conversation with the supplier stays in one place.
When you accept a quote, it becomes an order. If your agency uses ArmorTrack, the order has an Add to ArmorTrack link. ArmorTrack is an append-only custody record that runs from manufacture, so the armor you buy can be tracked through issue, inspection and disposition in the same account.
Before you buy
- Confirm the exact model and its CPL status on the date you buy.
- For plates, confirm whether the model was tested alone or with a specific soft armor.
- Confirm the rules for your delivery destination.
- Keep the record of what you checked.
