What it pays for

Under s. 790.065(1)(a)2., F.S., if firearm background check fees exceed expenditures by more than $2.5 million, the excess may be used to buy soft body armor for law enforcement officers. Runs only in years the Legislature appropriates it.

Who can apply: Florida law enforcement agencies (per appropriation).
When: FDLE posts details on its Open Funding Opportunities page in years with an appropriation; an FY23-24 round existed.
