The Tactical Scorpion Gear Level III+ steel plate armor, manufactured in the USA, meets all NIJ standards, offering a cost-effective solution without compromising on quality. This stand-alone armor plate has been tested and passed the NIJ 0101.06 standards, demonstrating multiple hit capability. It successfully withstood 6 shots from 5.56 M855 and M80 ball rounds at 2800fps, as well as 5.56 M193 55 Grain FMJ at 2900fps. Additionally, it defeated 30-06 165 grain copper tip trophy rounds in in-house testing. These Level 3+ plates are crafted from a proprietary steel that achieves Brinell Hardness ratings between 600 - 630, and are laser cut for precision. Notably stronger, thinner, and lighter than competitors, the proprietary steel core surpasses AR500 - AR650 in strength, featuring full-thickness hardening rather than just surface treatment. With a nominal thickness of only 0.197 inches, these plates offer a 20% weight reduction compared to AR500 variants while providing superior strength.
